Can I gift a donation in someone’s name?

How does naming work at checkout?

You can add a “to” name, a “from” name and an occasion. They travel with your donation to WARN’s secure page. The e-certificate is personalised with them. No account is created for the recipient. Card details stay with the payment processor WARN uses, not in an email to the person you are gifting.

Leave “from” blank to give anonymously. The certificate still carries their name and the care. That is useful for office collections and for people who hate being thanked.

Which occasions do people actually use?

Birthdays and Christmas are the volume pair. In-memory gifts sit close behind: a donation in the name of a person, or a much-missed pet, funding the kind of animal they loved. Monthly sponsorships use the same naming — the recipient gets the certificate and the updates.

Can you gift in memory of a person or a pet?

Yes. Dedication certificates for pets are among the most common. The pet’s name can appear with the care funded in their memory. For a person, keep the wording simple; the certificate already carries the specifics of the care, so you do not need a eulogy in the “occasion” field.

A tribute fund with its own bank account is a different product, usually run by a registered charity. We do not operate one. If the family asked for a named charity, give there. Our version is a costed tag with their name on the card.

Does gifting in their name create a tax receipt for them?

No. They did not give the money. You did. There is no Gift Aid here anyway. Do not tell them they can claim tax relief on a present they received. If anyone needs a receipt, it is the payer, from WARN.

Employer matching, Gift Aid, and payroll giving all care who paid. A named certificate does not move those rules. When in doubt, the skip is “give directly to the charity they named”.

What should you write so it does not feel thin?

Their name, your name if you want it, the occasion. Match the animal to the person — dog person, cat person, the uncle who talked about donkeys. The certificate carries the care; you do not need to oversell. If they would be hurt that nothing physical arrived, print it, or pick another present.

Can you gift a monthly sponsorship in their name?

Yes. From £30 a month. You remain the payer and can cancel. They get the certificate and updates. Do not gift a subscription if you cannot keep paying — that is an awkward second conversation.

How sponsorship gifts work.

When should you not put someone’s name on a donation?

When they asked for a specific registered charity, a live animal, or an object. When you needed them to get Gift Aid. When a will or tribute fund is the actual instruction.
