How does bear sponsorship work?

Bear sponsorship through Charity Shop supports bears rescued from bile farms, dancing and caged captivity, now at WARN partner sanctuaries. £70 a month funds food, enclosure care and enrichment — with a personalised e-certificate, giftable in someone's name.

Your sponsorship tier

You'll complete the donation on World Animal Rescue Network's secure page — the monthly option and the recipient's name carry across.

Where your sponsorship goes

Donations are received by World Animal Rescue Network, a community interest company with a statutory asset lock — no shareholders, no private gain — which directs funds to its partner shelters and sanctuaries across Asia, Africa and South America. The about page states the exact legal structure; figures on this page are reviewed quarterly (last review 17 July 2026).

Bear sponsorship questions

What does a bear sponsorship pay for?

Natural foraging food (£18 buys a week of honey and fruit), pool time and enrichment, and the enclosure care that gives a caged bear its life back — £70 a month.

Why can’t rescued bears go back to the wild?

Bears taken young into cages never learned to forage or den. Sanctuary is the honest answer: space, proper food and care for the rest of their lives.
