How does orangutan sponsorship work?

Orangutan sponsorship through Charity Shop is a monthly gift to WARN’s general fund, inspired by the care of orangutan orphans rescued from deforestation and the pet trade. £60 a month is the suggested amount, named after forest school — daily lessons in climbing, foraging and nest-building. Print a free gift card if it is a present.

Who should skip this: Skip this if you wanted to rehome an orangutan in the UK, needed Gift Aid, or expected a posted toy pack. Sponsorship is a monthly gift to WARN’s general fund, named after a kind of care; nobody takes the animal home. You can cancel through WARN.

Do I own or adopt this orangutan?

No. A monthly sponsorship here is a gift to WARN’s general fund at a suggested amount, named after a kind of care. It is not a pet and not a wild-animal adoption pack. If it is a present, print a gift card to hand over. Compare the models in sponsor vs adopt and symbolic vs care gifts.

Where your sponsorship goes

Donations are received by World Animal Rescue Network, a community interest company with a statutory asset lock — no shareholders, no private gain — which is developing its grant-making: it assesses animal-welfare organisations before agreeing support and publishes grant records as they become available. The about page states the exact legal structure; the amounts on this page are suggested donations, reviewed quarterly (last review 22 October 2026).

Orangutan sponsorship questions

What is orangutan forest school?

Daily supervised practice in climbing, foraging and nest-building for orphans who never learned from their mothers. £60 is the suggested amount for a month of lessons on the years-long path back to the wild.

Can I gift an orangutan sponsorship?

Yes. Add their name, then make a printable gift card that names the forest-school sponsorship — a genuinely wild gift for a wildlife person. WARN emails you the receipts and sends no certificate; we cannot promise updates.
